The growth rate of registrations of domain names in Runet that have a semantic link to COVID-19 has begun to decline. About it in the message of the Coordination Center for .RU/.Π Π€ domains.
According to the agency, in the first two weeks of May, 187 βcoronavirusβ domains appeared in the .RU zone, and 41 domains in .Π Π€. The total increase was 228 domain names, which is two times lower than the last April figures. In total, there are currently about 4 thousand sites in Russian national domains, whose names appeal to the name of the coronavirus or pandemic.
It is important to remember that some of the βcoronavirusβ domain names lead to fraudulent or malicious sites that are used by attackers to spread false information or remotely sell medicines supposedly able to help fight the disease. For this reason, information security experts advise Internet users to be careful when working with web sites whose URL contains keywords such as "coronavirus", "covid", "vaccine", "corona", "covid" , "virus".
