Tesla plans to reduce its Nevada plant's manufacturing workforce by about 75% due to the coronavirus pandemic, Storey County Executive Austin Osborne said on Thursday.
The decision comes after Tesla's partner, Japanese battery supplier Panasonic Corp, announced it would cut back on work at its Nevada plant before shutting it down for two weeks. βTesla has told us that the Storey County Gigafactory is reducing its manufacturing workforce by approximately 75% in the coming days,β Austin Osborne said in a post on the county website.
The company's Nevada plant produces electric motors and batteries for the popular Tesla Model 3 electric car.
