The starting price for one of the company's key models, the Tesla Model X crossover, is currently 809 yuan ($900), Tesla said on its Chinese website. The previous price of this model is 114 yuan.

The extended-range, dual-engine mass-market Model X variant now costs 439 yuan (up from 900 yuan).

Earlier this week, Reuters sources said Tesla would raise the price of its electric vehicles on Friday and could increase them again in December if China's decision to raise tariffs on U.S.-made cars takes effect.
