PC testing of Halo 3: ODST will be held in the first half of August

Studio 343 Industries has confirmed on the official Halo blog that testing of the PC version of the shooter Halo 3: ODST will begin in the first half of this month. According to the developer, players will be able to try out campaign missions and multiplayer arenas.

Halo 3: ODST takes place simultaneously with the events of Halo 2, in the year 2552. The Covenant has invaded Earth, and you have to take on the role of an ODST soldier nicknamed Rookie, find comrades in New Mombasa and fight off an alien attack. Those who subscribed to Halo Insider program, will be able to test the following campaign missions: Mombasa Streets, Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, NMPD HQ, Data Hive and Coastal Highway.

A feature of Halo 3: ODST's multiplayer is the Firefight mode, in which players fight waves of AI opponents to score points and survive as long as possible. Upcoming testing will include the following maps: Crater (Night), Rally (Night), Crater, Lost Platoon, Windward, Chasm Ten and Last Exit. In addition, players will be able to customize the look of their Spartan and have access to Theater Mode.

The stated goal of testing is to collect feedback, test distribution systems and Firefight mode, and verify that the rest of Halo 3: ODST is functioning properly.

Halo 3: ODST was released on the Xbox 360 in 2009 and was released on the Xbox One in 2015. The PC version should go on sale soon as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
