Daedalic Entertainment announced at the Future Games Show: gamescom 2020 Edition that the action-adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is no longer exclusive to next-generation consoles and PC. The game will also be released in 2021 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
At the same time, the developer held a presentation of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. In it, project manager Saide Haberstroh said that the game is being made with an emphasis on telling the extremely personal story of Gollum, who suffers from a split personality.
The gameplay of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is divided into several elements. The action adventure will offer:
- sections where you need to act quietly and secretly;
- environment-based puzzles;
- difficult climbs that require Gollum to demonstrate acrobatic skills, as in Prince of Persia;
- internal dialogues of Gollum and SmΓ©agol, presented in the form of a mini-game.
Combat is not Gollum's strong suit, although you can participate in it. Before the battle, you better assess the enemy correctly, otherwise the outcome may be disastrous.
