THQ Nordic Establishes Nine Rocks Games Studio to Develop Survival Shooter

THQ Nordic Publishing announced the establishment another controlled studio - Nine Rocks Games. The newly formed company is located in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Nine Rocks Games will be led by "industry veteran" David Durcak, and among the team's staff are former developers of DayZ, Soldier of Fortune: Payback, 2004 Conan and Chaser.

THQ Nordic's accompanying announcement says that Nine Rocks Games' debut project will be a survival shooter. Details about the game were promised to share "in due time."

“We can't wait to get settled in the office, optimize the team size, and get started on the project. With THQ Nordic as a partner, our talents have found the ideal conditions to collaborate on our first collaboration.” said Durchak.

Nine Rocks Games is far from THQ Nordic's first in-house studio, but in recent years the Austrian publisher has expanded its catalog of teams under its control primarily through asset acquisitions.

Previously, THQ Nordic acquired Tarsier Studios (Little Nightmares), Piranha Bytes (Gothic) Warhorse Studios (Kingdom Come: Deliverance), Bugbear Entertainment (Wreckfest) and Coffee Stain Holding (Goat Simulator).
