The Gamescom 2019 gaming exhibition in Cologne turned out to be rich in announcements. For example, during a live broadcast, THQ Nordic announced the revival of the once-famous helicopter simulator Comanche and showed a short video with excerpts from the gameplay of this curious project.
The trailer promises intense multiplayer dogfights with a focus on missions. One of the more interesting details revealed in the teaser is the ability to use drones to engage in close combat. There are few other details about the game.
"Critical security breaches reported," the trailer's official description says. - The loss of secret military documents has been confirmed: we are talking about the drawings of the advanced reconnaissance and attack helicopter RAH-66 Comanche. Informant activity is most likely. In response, SACEUR has authorized THQ Nordic and Nukklear to continue development of Comanche as quickly as possible to counter any possible threat and open the Early Access program in early 2020."
In other words, next year PC players will be able to get acquainted with the early version of Comanche (however, alpha and beta tests have already been scheduled for the last quarter of this year). Nothing is said about other platforms and the presence of a story campaign.
Recall that Comanche is a series of computer games originally from the 1990s from the Novalogic studio, in which players controlled the combat helicopter of the same name. The voxel engine helped Comanche stand out from competing flight simulators of the time. Let's see if THQ Nordic and Nukklear Digital Minds manage to revive the once glorious series.
