Toshiba suspends the supply of components for the needs of Huawei

Investment bank Goldman Sachs estimates that three Japanese companies have had long-term partnerships with Huawei and are currently halting shipments of products that use 25% or more of US-made technology or components, reported Panasonic corporation. Toshiba suspends the supply of components for the needs of Huawei

The fact is that Toshiba has just begun to figure out which products supplied by Huawei fall under the new restrictions of US law. While the analysis of the "intellectual structure" of these components is underway, Toshiba has suspended the supply of products that fall into the risk group. The Japanese company is reported to have temporarily stopped supplying Huawei with hard drives, optical and power semiconductor products, and highly integrated electronic components for high-performance systems.

Toshiba says that this decision will not have a significant impact on its revenues. Deliveries of products for the needs of Huawei may resume after Toshiba is convinced of the legality of such cooperation in terms of current US law. Toshiba and Huawei had a joint project in the field of the Internet of things, but the cooperation was curtailed in March of this year, even before the tightening of US sanctions against Huawei.
