“Apple will not be granted import duty relief or exemption for Mac Pro parts that are made in China. Make them in the USA, (there will be) no duties! ' Trump tweeted.

An Apple spokesperson has yet to comment on the matter, but the company's stock began to decline after Trump's announcement.

The company applied on July 18 to the US Trade Office to waive the 25 percent import duty on 15 components, including Mac Pro desktop parts. The regulator's review period for this request ends on 1 August.

A little later, Trump told reporters that he thought Apple would build a plant in Texas, without going into details about what exactly he had in mind and how he found out about it.

“I want Apple to build its factories in the United States. I don't want her to build them in China. So when I heard that they were going to build it in China, I said, 'OK, you can build it in China, but when you send your products to the United States, we will impose duties on them,'" the president said.

"We're working on it," Trump added. “I believe they are going to announce that they are planning to build a plant in Texas. And if they do, I will feel very happy.”
