Russia and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) have signed a new agreement on scientific and technical cooperation.
The agreement, which has become an expanded version of the 1993 agreement, provides for the participation of the Russian Federation in CERN experiments, and also defines the area of ββinterest of the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Russian projects.
In particular, as reported, CERN specialists will help in the creation of the Super S-tau factory collider (Novosibirsk) of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. G.I. Budker SB RAS (INP SB RAS). In addition, European scientists will take part in the projects of the PIK research neutron reactor (Gatchina) and the NICA accelerator complex (Dubna).
In turn, Russian experts will help in the implementation of European projects. βBINP SB RAS will continue to take an active part in the work on upgrading the Large Hadron Collider to a high-luminosity facility and key experiments ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, ALICE. Institute specialists will develop and manufacture collimator systems and high-frequency solid-state power amplifier systems required for the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider.
Plus, the Russian side will take over the financing of part of the work that will be carried out for the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
