TSMC intends to 'vigorously' defend its patented technologies in dispute with GlobalFoundries

Taiwanese company TSMC made the first official statement in response to blame in the misuse of 16 GlobalFoundries patents. A statement posted on TSMC's website said that the company is in the process of reviewing complaints filed by GlobalFoundries on August 26, but the manufacturer is confident that they are unfounded.

TSMC intends to 'vigorously' defend its patented technologies in dispute with GlobalFoundries

TSMC is one of the innovators in the semiconductor industry, investing billions of dollars every year to independently develop advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies. This approach has enabled TSMC to build one of the largest semiconductor portfolios, with over 37 proprietary technologies. The company expressed disappointment that, instead of competing in the technology market, GlobalFoundries decided to launch baseless lawsuits over several patents. “TSMC prides itself on its technology leadership, manufacturing excellence and unwavering commitment to customers. We will vigorously fight, using any means, to protect our patented technologies, ”the message posted on the company’s website says.

Recall that on August 26, the American company GlobalFoundries filed several lawsuits in the courts of the United States and Germany, accusing its largest competitor TSMC of misusing 16 patents. In the lawsuit, the company seeks compensation for damages, as well as a ban on the import of semiconductor products from a Taiwanese manufacturer. If the court upholds the claims of GlobalFoundries, then this could have serious consequences for the entire industry, since many of the largest technology companies, including Apple and NVIDIA, use TSMC's services.
