βWe are definitely prototyping devices using [flexible screen] technology. We have been engaged in relevant developments for a long time,β said Mr. Queiroz.
At the same time, it was said that Google does not yet see an urgent need for the release of commercial gadgets with a flexible design. The technology is quite "raw", and the cost of such smartphones is very high.
Back in January, it appeared on the Web that flexible devices may sooner or later appear in the Pixel family. But now it is premature to talk about the release of such devices.
The fact that the technology of flexible displays needs to be improved is also indicated by the situation with the Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone. This flexible device was supposed to be released in the US at the end of April, but then the South Korean giant officially delayed release due to a number of reports of breakdowns in Galaxy Fold samples provided to experts for review.
