One of the enterprises of the state corporation Roscosmos, the Russian Space Systems (RSS) holding, will take part in the initiative. The launch of a new Earth remote sensing (ERS) satellite is tentatively scheduled for 2024.

The mass of the spacecraft will be from 120 to 150 kg. It is expected that it will allow taking pictures of the earth's surface with a resolution of about a meter.

β€œThe project is co-financed by RKS and partially by us from our own funds. Thus, we are jointly developing a new universal satellite platform that will be in demand for remote sensing, communication devices, and scientific and technological satellites,” said Mr. Ivanenko.
