The "vast majority" of solar cells produced at Tesla's plant in upstate New York are sold overseas rather than used to make the Tesla Solar Roof, as originally expected, according to documents seen by Reuters.

According to official data as of February 28, there are only 21 Solar Roof systems in use in the state of California. These systems were connected by three investor-owned utilities. And only a few Solar Roof systems, according to a former Tesla employee, have been installed in the northeastern United States.
