Wizards of the Coast has "seven or eight" games in development, Cox told GamesIndustry. He also clarified that not all of them will be role-playing, as the company wants to diversify a number of projects within Dungeons & Dragons.

“We want each game to have its own point of view, stick to a couple of things and make the game very, very good. What we definitely don't want is to force every game in the franchise to be the same and have everything at once. And we'll be releasing games across a wide variety of genres… And in future games, we'll be exploring different areas, whether it's grand strategy or army-scale battles, to portray characters more deeply,” he said. “During development, we try to do this in all D&D games. We will have singles; we think they are important. All of our games will have single player modes, but we always think that our co-op side of partying up with friends and doing great things together […] will always be an important ingredient in our secret sauce.”

Over the decades of Dungeons & Dragons' existence, an entire mythology has developed, including thousands of books and scripts, all of which Wizards of the Coast uses in new video game projects. According to Chris Cox, this opens up great creative possibilities.
