Ubisoft acquired a 75% stake in Kolibri with the option to increase its stake to 100% over the next four years. “We are strengthening our portfolio of incremental games (idle games, clickers) with the acquisition of Kolibri Games,” said Jean-Michel Detoc, executive director of the mobile division. “It is one of the leaders in the segment, whose flagship game Idle Miner Tycoon has shown steady growth since 2016.”

“We are delighted that this amazingly talented team, recognized for the longevity of their flagship title, is joining Ubisoft,” the French publisher added. The move will also allow Ubisoft to strengthen its presence in Berlin after it opened a development studio in the city almost three years ago.

Kolibri Games executive director Daniel Stammler, in turn, noted that the deal marks a high point in the history of the young company and will significantly accelerate its development. By the way, in 2019, Ubisoft already acquired Green Panda Games, and now continues to strengthen its presence in the mobile segment. The takeover process of Kolibri Games was completed on January 31. The new studio is expected to increase the publisher's profits.
