Ubisoft has announced the creation of a remake of arcade racing Trackmania Nations for PC. The project is simply called Trackmania and was presented during the final Trackmania Grand League tournament in Lyon, France. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Nadeo and is scheduled to launch on May 5th.
According to Ubisoft, Trackmania combines an easy-to-learn and challenging-to-master gameplay style, and is poised to offer a fresh take on the series and creative innovations. Trackmania will feature regularly updated content, an official seasonal campaign, and daily track selections.
Trackmania will also become much more diverse due to fresh options for creating your own tracks, including new surfaces and special design elements. The developers aim to make eSports accessible to everyone with the help of Trackmania: there will be both daily open in-game competitions and professional-level international leagues.
While the Trackmania series initially took a simple approach, the focus shifted towards richer, more beautiful and complex environments. Now the developers promise to make the new game beautiful, deep, but simple. Unfortunately, there is no trailer yet, but several screenshots of the alpha version of the game have been published.
