According to him, one of the elements of space medicine should be a ground support system. We are talking, in particular, about the introduction of telemedicine, which is currently actively developing in our country.

β€œIssues arise about telemedicine, which is in demand both on Earth and especially in space. That is, such high-quality telemedicine from the point of view of not only voice advice, but also the possibility of using research diagnostic equipment, so that a person on Earth, even with this delay of many minutes, can receive information and help with diagnosis or with certain manipulations,” - Mr. Kotov noted.

This approach is currently being studied as part of the SIRIUS-2019 isolation program to simulate the flight of a team of astronauts to the Moon. Isolation, let us remind you, is carried out on the basis of a specially equipped complex in Moscow. The project program involves performing about 70 different experiments.

Thus, telemedicine could become an integral part of future missions to establish a base on the Moon or, say, to colonize Mars. Below you can watch Mr. Kotov’s video story.
