Unity Technologies has announced that it will not be attending or hosting any conferences or other events until the end of the year. This position was taken against the backdrop of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Unity Technologies has said that while it is open to sponsoring third-party events, it will not send representatives to them until 2021. The company will consider hosting internal events “only when deemed safe and appropriate.” This includes smaller get-togethers such as VIP dinners, leaderboard events, and developer days. The rest will go online.
“We know there is no perfect replacement for face-to-face meetings, events or events,” wrote Heather Glendinning, head of global events. “We believe that by focusing on direct digital channels and engagement, we can continue to support communities and connect with industry events and organizations, our customers and the community.”
The company has confirmed that Unite 2020 will be held digitally. The event is currently scheduled for late September - early October.
