We are talking about 8-800 numbers, calls to which are free for subscribers. As a rule, customers of the Free Call service are large companies operating at the federal level. But interest in these services is also growing in the segment of small and medium-sized businesses.

So, it is reported that in 2019 the volume of the Free Call service market in Russia reached 8,5 billion rubles. This is 4,1% more than in 2018, when the costs amounted to 8,2 billion rubles.

The leader in terms of revenue is Rostelecom with 34% of the market. This is followed by MTT (23%), VimpelCom (13%), MegaFon (12%) and MTS (10%).

It should be noted that Rostelecom also has the largest number base - 41% of the total numbering capacity allocated to operators in the 8-800 code.

“The continued popularity of the service is explained by the fact that the use of the federal multi-channel number 8800 not only increases the number and duration of calls from customers, but also creates an image of a solid organization that can be trusted,” says TMT Consulting.

It is also noted that at the beginning of 2020, due to the pandemic, there was a temporary increase in traffic 8-800: this is due to a large number of calls to the centers of travel and aviation companies, medical institutions, consultation centers, medical laboratories, food and medicine delivery services, banks and etc.
