AMD Ryzen processors were not driven by Intel shortage or trade war

Present quarterly conference AMD was characterized by the desire of the guests of the event to ask all the burning questions that had been haunting them for the previous three months. The head of the first of the companies successfully dispelled all rumors about the shortage of AMD's available production capacities, TSMC, recognizing the expansion rates of all 7-nm own products without exception as high as possible.

AMD Ryzen processors were not driven by Intel shortage or trade war

The head of the company could not dodge questions about the impact of a competitor's processor shortage on AMD's own business, but she calmly stated that the shortage of Intel processors is expressed mainly in the budget segment, and she does not provide AMD with much help in promoting its own processors. Ryzen processors are popular simply because of their combination of consumer qualities. Last week, we recall, Intel CFO George Davis (George Davis) admitted the idea that the company's position in the budget sector of the processor market is weakening precisely because of the shortage of 14-nm products. It turns out that AMD does not deny the success in strengthening its own positions in the processor market, but does not consider the shortage of competitor's products as a factor that influenced the situation. Today it was said that the share of AMD in the segment of client processors has been increasing for the eighth consecutive quarter, and revenue from their implementation has reached a record value since 2011.

The second question of "opportunistic nature" had to do with the consequences of the "trade war". As you know, many suppliers of computer components and finished systems felt that in anticipation of an increase in customs tariffs in the United States for goods from China, customers rushed to create increased stocks of products in advance, and this favorably affected the revenue of manufacturers from the second quarter of this year, when the relationship between the United States and China in the field of foreign trade began to deteriorate. AMD stated with full responsibility that in the third quarter, although it observed an increase in sales volumes, this trend is not ready to be attributed to β€œpreemptive purchases”. According to AMD management, buyers were simply attracted by new platforms offered by the company in the reporting period.
