Leaked image confirms lidar on iPhone 12 Pro

An image of the upcoming Apple iPhone 12 Pro smartphone has appeared on the Web, which received a new design of the main camera on the rear panel.

Leaked image confirms lidar on iPhone 12 Pro

As in the case of the 2020 iPad Pro tablet, the novelty is equipped with a lidar - Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), which allows you to determine the transit time of light reflected from the surface of objects at a distance of up to five meters.

The image of the unannounced iPhone 12 Pro was posted on Twitter by user @Choco_bit, who has previously reported details about future Apple products.

Based on his account history, it appears to belong to a former Apple Authorized Service Provider. According to the original source of the leaked iPhone Concepts image, it was found in iOS 14 firmware code.

The image shows what the camera array will look like on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. It includes wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses, a telephoto lens and a LiDAR scanner, like the iPad Pro 2020.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 12 series of smartphones in the fall, although some experts believe that their release may be delayed due to economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, if everything goes according to the schedule that has developed over the years, Apple is expected to introduce four new smartphone models this fall: a 5,4-inch iPhone, two 6,1-inch models, and a 6,7-inch iPhone. All new items will receive OLED displays and support for 5G networks.
