Horror Amnesia: Rebirth will take the best elements of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA

Creative Director of Frictional Games Thomas Grip (Thomas Grip) in an interview with GameSpot spoke about what the developers focus on when creating the horror Amnesia: Rebirth. The game was announced this spring, and its plot will unfold ten years after the events of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is one of the best examples of psychological horror. It gradually builds up a sense of dread throughout the playthrough, ensuring that the player always feels insecure, even without sudden jump scares. And this style will return in Amnesia: Rebirth.

The new game will focus on a central theme around which Frictional Games will build a story and then use it to shape the terrifying experience. When the studio was developing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, one of the main elements was a certain theme - human evil. The game frightened not only with short moments when a monster attacked you, but also with the plot itself, the atmosphere. As Thomas Grip said, when creating Amnesia: Rebirth, Frictional Games takes into account the lessons learned not only from Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but also released in 2015 SOMA.

Like SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth will put the player in a person, in a situation, and spend a lot of time just believing that you have to accept what's happening - that it's serious. Around the middle of the game, the new horror will reveal its true nature.
