Showtime will be ready to start filming the Halo TV series soon. Two key characters from the original trilogy have been cast for the show, along with a new hero who has some ties to the Covenant.
Danny Sapani (Black Panther, Doctor Who, Courtesans) will play Captain Jacob Case, and Olive Gray (Crescent Moon Investigation, Sex Education, Fleabag) will play his daughter, Dr. Miranda Case. These characters were in Halo and Halo 2. Jacob and Miranda Keyes are important to the story of the original trilogy. It's not obvious in the games, but according to Halo mythology, Miranda's mother is Dr. Catherine Halsey, the creator of both Cortana and the Spartan program. Natascha McElhone will play both Halsey and Cortana in the Halo TV series.
Another new addition to the cast is a completely new character. Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley, Love/Hate) will play Mackie, an orphan raised by the Covenant. In Halo 2, players have already seen how the Covenant works: the life of the races and their culture. Perhaps Showtime has decided to further reveal the ways of the aliens.
