Over the next few days, Sony Corp will close its smartphone factory in Beijing. The representative of the Japanese company, who reported this, explained this decision by the desire to cut costs in a loss-making business.
A Sony spokesperson also revealed that Sony will move production to its factory in Thailand, which is expected to halve smartphone manufacturing costs and turn the business into a profitable business by April 2020.
Sony's smartphone business turned out to be one of its few "weak links" at this stage. The company operated this fiscal year with a profit of 95 billion yen ($863 million).
