Facebook's browser version finally has a dark mode

Today the large-scale deployment of the updated design of the web version of the social network Facebook began. Among other things, users will receive the long-awaited ability to activate dark mode.

Facebook's browser version finally has a dark mode

The developers have begun distributing the new design, which was announced at last year's Facebook F8 conference. Prior to this, the new interface was tested for quite a long time by a limited number of users. It is worth noting that the launch of the new Facebook design occurred a few weeks after the developers radically changed the the appearance of the branded messaging application Messenger.

One of the main innovations is the appearance of a dark mode, which in the future will become available to all users of the social network. Depending on your own preferences, dark mode can be turned on and off when required. In addition, Facebook Watch, Marketplace, Groups and Gaming tabs appeared on the main page. In general, the appearance of the web version of the social network has become more like the design of a mobile application. The process of creating events, groups, and advertising content has been simplified. Moreover, even before publication, users will be able to see how the material they created will be displayed on a mobile device.

If you're using the desktop version of Facebook, you may see an offer at the top of your workspace (this feature may be available to a limited number of people) to try "the new Facebook." If you don't like the new design, you can return to the classic look, but this option will disappear later this year. Even if you don't like Facebook's redesign, you'll probably like dark mode. Previously, support for dark mode was added to other company products, such as Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, and now the turn has come to the web version of the social network Facebook.
