Firaxis Games studio has added the royal Red Death mode to the Civilization VI strategy. The developers announced this on the YouTube channel of the game and released a video about the new mode.
Red Death will be available for free. It is designed for 12 players. In it, users will plunge into a post-apocalyptic world with destroyed cities and acidic oceans. Players will fight each other for survival. According to the laws of the genre, the accessible zone will constantly narrow until there is only one survivor.
The battle royale mode is mainly used in shooters. It is implemented in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Separate games have also been released in this genre - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Apex Legends and Fortnite. They have become one of the most popular in this niche.
Civilization VI was released in October 2016 on PC. The project was later transferred to iOS and Nintendo Switch. The game received positive reviews from critics and scored 88 on Metacritic.
