LG Electronics has entered into a collaboration agreement with CJ Foodville, one of South Korea's largest food service companies, to build robots that will be tested in its restaurants by the end of this year.
CJ Foodville is the parent company for popular franchises such as Twosome Place and Tous Les Jours. Twosome Place currently has over 1000 outlets in South Korea.
Last year, during the reorganization in LG were new divisions to advance the areas of robotics and the development of autonomous vehicles. These divisions are under the direct supervision of LG's CEO.
In November 2018 the company about the intention to create in partnership with the South Korean supermarket chain E-Mart a smart cart that will follow the customer in the store, automatically avoiding obstacles.
