Firefox 68 will have a new add-on manager

In the release of Firefox 68, which is expected on July 9, approved enabling the new add-on manager (about:addons) by default, completely rewritten using HTML/JavaScript and standard web technologies. The new interface for managing add-ons was prepared as part of an initiative to rid the browser of components based on XUL and XBL. To evaluate the work of the new interface without waiting for Firefox 68, you can enable the option extensions.htmlaboutaddons.enabled in about:config. Also in development is the HTML version of the about:config page.

In the new interface, separate buttons for controlling the activation of add-ons have been replaced with a context menu. For each add-on in the form of tabs, it is possible to view a full description, change settings and manage access rights without leaving the main page with a list of add-ons. Disabled add-ons are now clearly separated from active ones and listed in a separate section. Both light and dark themes are supported.

In addition, a new section has been added with add-ons recommended for installation, the composition of which is selected depending on the installed add-ons, settings and statistics on the user's work. Also new is a new button for reporting add-on problems to Mozilla, such as malicious activity, display problems due to an add-on, inconsistencies in functionality, an add-on appearing without user interaction, or stability issues.
