Dark theme coming to Gmail for Android

This year, developers of mobile operating systems are making more and more changes to their solutions. Official dark themes will be available to owners of devices based on Android and iOS. It is worth noting that the inclusion of night mode will affect the entire OS, and not individual sections or menus. Moreover, Google, Apple, as well as many third-party mobile content developers are actively implementing dark mode in their applications.

Already, many of Google's proprietary Android apps have dark mode, and now it's showing up in Gmail. According to online sources, this mode is currently under development and is available to some users of the latest version of Gmail for Android. Dark mode is present in the application settings menu, but it is not yet visible in the main window or sidebar. What's more, it appears that currently the dark theme can be turned on and off randomly, even if the user doesn't make any changes to the settings. A toggle that would allow control of the dark theme is also missing.

Probably, at present, the developers from Google are still testing a new theme. Most likely, it will become available to users in the near future. However, the official launch of the dark theme for Gmail may be delayed until the release of Android Q later this summer. By this point, not only Gmail, but also many other Android applications will receive dark mode support.
