Google Chrome has a QR code generator

At the end of last year, Google began working on creating a QR code generator built into the Chrome web browser. In the latest build of Chrome Canary, the version of the browser in which the search giant is testing new features, this feature is finally working properly.

The new feature allows you to select the β€œshare page using a QR code” option in the context menu called by pressing the right mouse button. In order to use the new feature, it must be activated on the browser settings page. You can also generate a QR code using the button located right in the address bar. The resulting image can be recognized by any QR scanner.

As it turned out, the maximum length of a URL from which a QR code can be generated is 84 characters. In the future, this restriction will probably be removed. Since the feature is still in testing, the download button below the generated code downloads a completely black image.

Since testing of the feature has just begun, it is unlikely that it will be implemented in the stable version of Google Chrome until at least version 84.
