The State Duma identified the main Internet threats

Youth organizations under the State Duma and the Union of Lawyers of Russia unveiled results of an all-Russian online survey on the topic of threats from the Internet. It was held in 61 regions, and 1,2 thousand people took part. As RBC reports, these data will be used to develop recommendations from the Public Chamber at the end of this month.

The State Duma identified the main Internet threats

The initiative was proposed by the Youth Parliament, the Youth Union of Lawyers of Russia and a number of other structures, and the survey itself was conducted among people aged 18 to 44 years. And it turned out that people consider online games, social networks, and only then porn sites to be the greatest breeding grounds for danger. The results are distributed like this:

  • Multiplayer games - 53%.
  • Social networks - 48%.
  • Sites with sexual content - 45%.
  • Dating sites - 36%.
  • Darknet - 30.

It is possible that the last point received so little only out of ignorance, since even now many users are not aware of what Tor is, β€œonion routing” and so on. At the same time, video streams, video hosting, forums, instant messengers, contextual advertising and aggressive design of network content were mentioned in the context. However, no figures are provided for them.

The same respondents answered the question β€œwhich Internet threats have the most negative impact on the youth of Russia?” The results look even stranger:

  • Recruitment into extremist organizations (49%).
  • β€œDeath groups” (41%).
  • AUE (39%).
  • Cyberbullying (26%).
  • Promotion of drug addiction and/or alcoholism (24%).
  • Pornography and sexual perversion (22%).
  • School shootings (19%).
  • Online phishing (17%).
  • Online games (13%).
  • Forms of network addiction or phobias (9%).

That is, here games were in 9th place, and porn - in 6th. Also mentioned were hacker and virus attacks, trolling, clickbait, shock content, extreme challenges, pedophilia and Satanism. True, it is unclear what share they occupy in the overall picture.

The Chairman of the Youth Parliament under the State Duma, Maria Voropaeva, has already stated that she is in favor of tightening control and the possibility of pre-trial blocking. And Sergei Afanasyev, chairman of the Moscow bar association β€œAfanasyev and Partners,” even proposed simplifying the blocking procedure, carrying it out on the basis of an examination. He sees an alternative to reducing the duration of legal proceedings.

But Roskomsvoboda believes that in this way the authorities are manipulating public opinion and preparing the ground for justifying repressive legislation on the regulation of the Internet.
