Instagram gets new features for Stories and removes the Following tab

Since its introduction in 2016, the Instagram Stories system has generally looked very similar to Snapchat. And now the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri (Adam Mosseri) сообщил on Twitter that the service will feature an updated camera design with easy-to-view effects and filters. This is supposed to allow for more interesting Stories.

Instagram gets new features for Stories and removes the Following tab

This feature will appear on both current mobile platforms (iOS and Android). In addition to improving the effects, there will be added a dark design mode and the ability to use GIF as a background for posts. There’s also a new Create mode that allows you to share posts created on the same day a year earlier. It's kind of like the Memories feature that came out earlier this year.

In addition, the Create mode creates polls, countdown timers and the like. And all this can be added directly to Stories, thereby “diluting” the videos and music that have set the teeth on edge. Thus, the social network continues to develop its capabilities under the wing of Facebook. Although, I must say, most of the features in it are replicas and clones of similar features in Snapchat.

Finally on Instagram refused from the Following tab, which allowed you to view other people's likes, comments, and followings. It has existed since 2011 and was not very popular, and in addition, it was a frankly dubious tool from the point of view of ethics.

The bottom line is that many did not know about it, and for some it became a way of persecuting other users. For example, there you could see how a person, being in a long-term relationship, likes or comments on the posts of former or potential partners. Or trying to catch friends in a lie. Finally, it was a great way for the tabloids to look for "scoops" and follow celebrities.

Although Instagram announced its intentions to close the tab just now, it disappeared for some users back in August. The rest will lose Following before the end of the week.
