iOS 14 may introduce new wallpaper tools and an updated widget system

According to online sources, in iOS 14, Apple developers intend to implement a more flexible widget system, which is reminiscent of the one currently used in Android. In addition, additional tools for customizing wallpaper are expected.

iOS 14 may introduce new wallpaper tools and an updated widget system

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Apple was developing a new wallpaper customization panel for iOS, in which all available images were divided into categories. This message was based on part of the code found in an early build of iOS 14. Now, pictures have been published on Twitter showing the changed wallpaper settings panel.

These pictures confirm that all wallpapers are sorted into collections by default. This approach will allow for better organization of the images used as wallpapers, since users will be able to immediately go to the desired category without having to scroll through all the images in search of something suitable.

The published images also show a Home Screen Appearance option. When enabled, users can customize dynamic wallpapers that are displayed only on the home screen. The source suggests that the changes discovered could be part of something larger that Apple will offer users in iOS 14.

It can be said that Apple is working to introduce real widgets that can be placed on the home screen of iPhone and iPad. Unlike the pinned widgets that are used in iPadOS 13, these new versions will be able to be moved, just like any icons of applications installed on the device. This means that users will be able to place widgets in any convenient place, and not just on a dedicated screen, as is currently implemented.

The source notes that new features are currently in development. By the time iOS 14 launches, Apple may refuse to introduce them or change them.
