Nate Graham, a quality assurance developer for the KDE project, has published the latest KDE development report. The development of the KDE Plasma 6.4 branch, scheduled for release on June 17, has been moved to a soft freeze, which limits the acceptance of changes to implement new features.
Recent changes in KDE Frameworks 6.16 include:
- The design of the standard "New File" and "New Folder" dialogs used in Dolphin, on the desktop and in various applications has been redesigned. The ability to assign a custom icon to a directory has been added.

- Added protection against interruption of file transfer by switching to sleep mode, which is now blocked until the operation is completed.
- The Kirigami framework's icon rendering mechanism in KDE Plasma and QtQuick applications has been reworked, which has eliminated some issues with selection on systems with dark mode.
- Improved display of thumbnails for files on external devices серверах, requested via URL.
Improvements in KDE Plasma 6.4:
- The volume control widget now shows the title of content playing in applications that expose such metadata (such as browsers).

- In the configurator, in the hotkey settings section, more understandable names of key combinations in KWin and Plasma are used.

- In the configurator, on the page with display parameters, non-integer values of screen refresh are now displayed (for example, 59.94Hz).
KWin fixes a hang when playing YouTube videos in Firefox in full-screen mode. Fixed crashes when disconnecting Thunderbolt docks or when trying to draw undecorated windows. Improved interaction with applications using a stylus on a graphics tablet.
