The editors of the Igor's Lab website received a third-party NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super video card for review, equipped with a power adapter with a defective 12V2x6 connector. The problem may not be widespread, but video card owners are advised to pay attention to this aspect - the cable or adapter must be connected with a clear click. Igor's Lab journalists studied the problem and found that the PCI-SIG specification does not indicate the exact dimensions of the 12V2x6 connector, which gives manufacturers unnecessary freedom. Perhaps because of this, the power adapter that came with the video card entered without a characteristic click - for the same reason, it came out of the connector relatively easily, since it was not fixed in it securely enough. To confirm the hypothesis about the defect, the author of the review borrowed an adapter that came with a GeForce RTX 4080 Founders Edition video card manufactured by NVIDIA itself, and it was known for sure that it worked.
