Microsoft Flight Simulator will have all the airports on Earth, but only 80 will be carefully worked out

Microsoft Flight Simulator Lead Designer Sven Mestas of Asobo Studio (developer A Plague Tale: Innocence) talked about airports in the upcoming flight simulator. The game will feature all the airports in the world, but only 80 will receive a high-quality study.

So, it turned out that the starting database was taken from Microsoft Flight Simulator X (the last part of the series, released in 2006), which featured about 24 thousand airports. In the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, this number will increase to 37 thousand. But only a few of them will receive additional attention.

These 80 airports include the most visited and busiest airports in the world. They were given more realism: identifiers, paths, signs and buildings correspond to their real counterparts. Moreover, they look better compared to other airports, because they have unique buildings and other attributes. And the landscape around them has been "terraformed" to accommodate the airports in their real environment.

Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't have an exact release date yet, but it's slated for release on PC and Xbox One this year. Asobo Studio has confirmed that the game supports ray tracing technology. VR mode is a "high priority", but will only appear in subsequent updates after the release.
