AI will be built into Microsoft Word

Last year, Microsoft introduced artificial intelligence to PowerPoint. It has been built into the Ideas tool to enhance presentations. Now the company adapts Ideas to Microsoft Word, offering ideas for improving texts.

Unlike the already traditional system of correcting typos and incorrect sentence construction, the Ideas system works differently. It will analyze the text, the words used, their length and the estimated time spent reading the document. Also, the service will select and suggest synonyms to improve the readability of the text. Microsoft talked about these changes at its Build 2019 developer conference in Seattle.

It is noted that text correction is not the only new feature of its kind. Not so long ago, automatic saving to the OneDrive cloud was missing in Office documents, now it is also available. In addition, in the case of joint work on the text, you can ask for help from colleagues using "@". If you write @username before the text fragment, the system will automatically send an email to this user and attach the text.

It has not yet been specified when the new feature will be available in the release, but, obviously, it will first appear in the Office 365 online service. There is no word yet on the possibility of adding it to on-premise versions of Office. And this is logical, given that Microsoft is actively moving all of its applications and even operating systems to the cloud. From a business point of view, this is justified - it is much better to get paid regularly and not be afraid of pirates than to release applications for the OS and lose money on it.
