MEPhI will host a student Olympiad on information security: how to take part and what it gives

From 19 to 21 April 2019, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI will host All-Russian Student Olympiad on Information Security.

The Olympiad is supported by Positive Technologies. Not only MEPhI students, but also students of other universities aged 18 to 25 can take part in the competition.

About the competition

The Olympiad has been held at MEPhI for the past few years. The Olympiad is supported by leading companies in the industry, including Positive Technologies.

The Olympiad is held in two rounds - theoretical and practical. Winners, prize-winners and laureates of the Olympiad will be awarded diplomas and valuable gifts. The laureates of the Olympiad will receive benefits upon admission to the master's program of the Institute of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in the areas of "Informatics and Computer Engineering" and "Information Security". Winners and prize-winners (participants who took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places) are enrolled in the NRNU MEPhI master's program for engineering training without entrance exams.

How to take part

University students no older than 25 years old who are studying under the bachelor's, specialist's and master's programs of enlarged groups of training areas can become participants in the Information Security Olympiad at 10.00.00 and 09.00.00.

If you are seriously interested in cybersecurity issues, then you can take part in the competition. One university can send up to four people to the Olympiad. To do this, the student must register by April 17 at website of the olympiad and print the application form. The representative of the administration of the higher educational institution, from which the student or several students will be sent, must send to the organizing committee of the Olympiad before April 17, 2019 ([email protected]) scanned versions of applications for each participant signed by the rector (vice rector, dean, director of the institute) with the seal of the university or faculty. Participants of the Olympiad submit original applications at registration before the start of the full-time round.

Foreign students can take part in the competition out of competition, registration for them ends on April 12.

Support for the Student Olympiad is part of the Positive Education non-profit program aimed at raising the level of education in the field of information security in Russia. As part of this program, Positive Technologies helps universities by providing MaxPatrol 8, MaxPatrol SIEM, PT Application Firewall and XSpider products for free, and the company's experts conduct seminars for students. MEPhI and dozens of other universities in the country participate in the Positive Education program.
