Tests of an AI system for non-contact temperature measurement in passenger traffic began in Moscow

The state corporation Rostec announces that pilot tests of a Russian remote temperature measurement system for people in passenger traffic have begun at the Leningradsky railway station in Moscow.

The complex, developed by the Shvabe holding, is manufactured in Krasnogorsk under the Zenit brand. Tests of the advanced system are organized with the support of Russian Railways.

The key components of the complex are a thermal imager and a video camera controlled by a unique algorithm with artificial intelligence (AI). The system allows you to accurately recognize people with elevated body temperature in a dense human flow, which may indicate the possible presence of a new coronavirus or other diseases.

The thermal imaging installation detects people in the passenger flow whose body temperature goes beyond the critical value. The system highlights such passengers on the operator's monitor with color and gives an alarm signal. People with a fever are invited to go to the medical center of the station for a control temperature measurement using the traditional contact method.

It is important to note that the temperature of a person is determined instantly. The accuracy is about 0,1 degrees Celsius.

In the future, the Russian system could be used at railway stations across the country, at airports and other crowded places.
