Russian specialists from the Center for Molecular Diagnostics of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor offer to test for coronavirus on a commercial basis for everyone without a doctor's prescription. The service has been available since April 6th. The result of the analysis will be reported to the person by e-mail within one to two days. This is stated on the website of the department.
The cost of the service is about 2 thousand rubles. At the moment, it is available only to residents of Moscow and the Moscow region. Rospotrebnadzor is working to expand the network and cover all Russian regions.
It is also indicated that a highly sensitive test system is used for analysis, which allows detecting coronavirus in the early stages, as well as in people with mild symptoms.
The procedure will be carried out at home and in an almost contactless way. A field service specialist from the Center for Molecular Diagnostics will be sent to the person who ordered the service, who will deliver the diagnostic kit, instruct how to take a swab from the oropharynx, and then take the container with the biomaterial sample for examination.
The Russian agency explains that in clinical trials, the test showed high sensitivity and specificity. The possibility of obtaining a false negative and false positive result is excluded.
As of April 6, 6343 cases of infection have been identified and confirmed in Russia. Over the entire observation period, 406 people recovered, 47 died.
