The new Microsoft Edge may introduce password viewing from the classic browser

Microsoft company regards the ability to port a popular feature from the classic Edge browser to its new version based on Chromium. We are talking about the function of forced password viewing (the same icon in the form of an eye). This function will be implemented as a universal button.

It is important to note that only manually entered passwords will be displayed in this way. If the autocomplete mode is enabled, the function will not work. Also, the password will not be shown if the control loses focus and regains it, or if the value is changed using a script. In this case, you can use the Alt-F8 combination to force the display of the password on or off.

At the moment, this feature is only being developed and has not yet even made it into an early version of Canary. However, once it's released, it will be added to Google Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, and other Chromium-based browsers. At the same time, any exact dates have not yet been specified. Most likely, you will have to wait for the next major update.

Note that this feature is available in the classic Edge, starting from the first version. Thus, more and more features of the "blue" browser are transferred to Chromium / Google and are included in the main application code. So sooner or later they will appear in other programs.

Recall that, judging by the leaks, the release version of the new Microsoft Edge based on Chromium will appear in the spring build of Windows 10 201H.
