The Radeon RX 5600 XT is indeed based on the next version of the Navi 10 GPU

Even before the announcement of the Radeon RX 5600 XT, there were rumors that this video card would be based on the new Navi 12 GPU, which was mentioned in several leaks. However, this did not happen, and it still remains unclear what the mysterious Navi 12 will be based on, and whether this GPU will be released at all.

At the heart of the Radeon RX 5600 XT is a GPU called Navi 10 XLE, that is, a slightly modified version of the Navi 10 XL chip, which is the basis of the Radeon RX 5700. Recall that these two GPUs are identical in terms of core configuration, that is, they have the same number of stream processors and other functional blocks.

In total, at the moment, Navi 10 has been released in seven versions:

  • Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary: Navi 10 XTX;
  • Radeon RX 5700 XT: Navi 10 XT (some models use XTX);
  • Radeon RX 5700: Navi 10 XL;
  • Radeon RX 5600 XT: Navi 10 XLE;
  • Radeon RX 5600 (OEM): Navi 10 XE;
  • Radeon RX 5600M: Navi 10 XME;
  • Radeon RX 5700M: Navi 10 XML or XLM.
