Google search results will show ads of medical organizations offering online consultations

It became known that Google is planning to make changes to its search engine. According to a post published on the developer blog, search results will include ads from medical organizations offering online consultations. This change will make it easier to find telemedicine services, which have experienced a significant surge in demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Google search results will show ads of medical organizations offering online consultations

Medical organizations offering services in the field of telemedicine will be able to add links to their websites, which will be displayed not only in search results, but also in the Google Maps service. If a medical organization providing online consultations has a page dedicated to the coronavirus, then a link to it will also automatically appear in the search.

Google will also display "widely available platforms" of virtual services on a separate card in search results. It will show up in search results when users make queries related to getting immediate medical advice. At the moment, the new features are a pilot project. They can be used by residents of the United States, for which Google has already begun to show links in the search results to some local medical organizations offering telemedicine services. It is possible that in the future a simplified search for medical consultations online will become available to users from other countries.

It is worth noting that Google continues to be active in preventing the spread of coronavirus. One of the latest steps in this direction has been an association with Apple to improve the efficiency of contact tracing of people infected with the coronavirus.
