333M SSDs shipped last year

The past 2020 was a turning point for the industry in the sense that for the first time in history, the number of shipped solid-state drives (SSDs) exceeded the number of classic hard drives (HDDs). In physical terms, the former increased over the year by 20,8%, in capacity terms - by 50,4%. A total of 333 million SSDs were shipped, their gross capacity reaching 207,39 exabytes. The relevant statistics were published by Trendfocus. In the fourth quarter of last year, sales volumes of solid-state drives grew sequentially by 6% to 87 million units, in capacity terms by 1% to 55 exabytes. The gross capacity of all solid-state drives shipped in the fourth quarter reached 207 exabytes.
