PUBG will no longer sell closed loot boxes for in-game currency

The developers of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds have decided to stop selling locked loot boxes for in-game currency. This is reported on the game website.

The new rules will come into force on December 18. All boxes that players purchase with BP from this date onwards will be able to be opened without using keys. However, existing locked boxes will still require the purchase of a key.

List of changes: 

  • from November 20 - a “Venetian” box will appear in the game, which can be purchased directly for BP;
  • from November 27 - the “Venetian” box can only be purchased as part of random loot boxes, the likelihood of receiving closed boxes has been reduced;
  • from December 18 - the developers will remove the possibility of locked boxes falling out.

PUBG Corporation said: thanks to player feedback, the studio found out that closed loot boxes are not popular. The developers also emphasized that their closed value is too low. That is why the company decided to abandon this monetization method.
