In Russia, there are problems connecting to Tor

Users of various Russian providers in recent days have noted the inability to connect to the anonymous Tor network when accessing the network through various providers and mobile operators. Basically, blocking is observed in Moscow when connecting through providers such as MTS, Rostelecom, Akado, Tele2, Yota, Beeline and Megafon. Separate messages about blocking also come from users from St. Petersburg, Ufa and Yekaterinburg. In Tyumen, through Beeline and Rostelecom, the connection to Tor passes without problems.

Blocking occurs when trying to connect to any Tor (Directory Authority) directory servers, which are network connection points responsible for authentication and transferring to the user a list of gateways that process traffic. It also fails to establish connections using the obfs4 and snowflake transports, but it is possible to connect when manually assigning hidden bridge nodes requested via bridges.torproject.org or email. This includes the ajax.aspnetcdn.com host in the Microsoft CDN used in the meek-asure transport.

It is noteworthy that yesterday Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of six more VPN providers in the Russian Federation - Cloudflare WARP, Betternet, Lantern, X-VPN, Tachyon VPN and PrivateTunnel, in addition to the previously blocked VyprVPN, OperaVPN, Hola VPN, ExpressVPN, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, Nord VPN, Speedify VPN and IPVanish VPN.
