Despite the fact that fifth-generation commercial cellular networks are not yet available to Russian subscribers, the formation of a market for 5G-enabled smartphones has been underway in our country for several months, as reported by the Vedomosti newspaper.
The first 5G devices, as noted, appeared in Russian retail back in February. By June, about two dozen smartphone models with the ability to exchange data via fifth-generation networks were available in our country.
MTS analysts estimate that in June alone, more than 20 devices with 000G support were sold in Russia for approximately 5 billion rubles. Such devices in the total sales of βsmartβ phones accounted for approximately 1,2% in monetary terms and 3% in unit terms.
The list of the most popular 5G smartphones among Russians includes models such as Huawei Honor 30S, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Huawei Honor 30 Pro+, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Honor View 30 Pro.
As for the cost of 5G devices in our country, the most affordable model - Honor 30S - costs 27 rubles. For the most expensive device, Huawei Mate XS, you will have to pay 990 rubles. The average cost of such smartphones at the end of June was 199 rubles.
