Rostelecom and the National Payment Card System (NSPC) have entered into a cooperation agreement to develop and implement services based on biometric technologies in our country.
The parties intend to jointly develop the Unified Biometric System. Until recently, this platform allowed only key financial services: using biometric data, clients could open an account or deposit, apply for a loan or make a bank transfer.
In the future, it is planned to develop various payment services. By the way, the other day I was in our country the first payment based on facial recognition technology.
As part of the new agreement, Rostelecom and NSPK intend to conduct research and testing in the field of security of using biometric technologies as part of payment services, as well as develop the biometrics market and stimulate the demand of potential customers.
The partners plan to study all options for possible biometric authentication algorithms and evaluate their reliability. The results of joint work will be used in the future in the Unified Biometric System.
