Russia will create a global system for searching for zero-day vulnerabilities

It has become known that Russia is developing a global system for searching for zero-day vulnerabilities, similar to that used in the United States and designed to combat various types of cyber threats. This was stated by the director of the Avtomatika concern, which is part of the Rostec state corporation, Vladimir Kabanov.

Russia will create a global system for searching for zero-day vulnerabilities

The system created by Russian specialists is similar to the American DARPA CHESS (Computers and Humans Exploring Software Security). American specialists have been developing a global government system in which artificial intelligence interacts with humans since the end of 2018. A neural system is used to search for vulnerabilities and analyze them. Ultimately, the neural network generates a highly reduced set of data, which is provided to a human expert. This approach allows you to analyze vulnerabilities without loss of efficiency, carrying out timely localization of the source of danger and forming recommendations for its elimination.

It was also noted during the interview that the Russian system will be able to track and neutralize vulnerabilities in near real time. Regarding the degree of readiness of the domestic vulnerability detection system, Mr. Kabanov did not disclose any details. He only noted that its development is currently underway, but at what stage this process is is unknown.

Let us remind you that zero-day vulnerabilities are usually defined as software defects that the developers had 0 days to fix. This means that the vulnerability became publicly known before the manufacturer had time to release a bug fix package that would neutralize the defect.
